Jane Fonda Says Her Lymphoma Is in Remission

Actress and two-time Academy Award winner Jane Fonda announced Thursday that her non-Hodgkin lymphoma is in remission.

Fonda, 84, said in a blog post that she can quit chemotherapy treatments, calling it the "BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!!!" Fonda, also a climate activist, will turn 85 on Wednesday.

"The last chemo session was rough and lasted 2 weeks, making it hard to accomplish much of anything," Fonda wrote.

Fonda shared that her first four rounds of chemotherapy had been easier, NBC News reported.

"I am feeling so blessed, so fortunate. I thank all of you who prayed and sent good thoughts my way. I am confident that it played a role in the good news," Fonda wrote.

Fonda announced her cancer diagnosis in September, saying her survival chances were better because she was privileged to have "health insurance and access to the best doctors and treatments."

Fonda's acting successes have included winning Oscars for "Klute"and "Coming Home."She was also nominated five other times for the award, most recently in 1986, NBC News reported.

In addition to acting, Fonda is also known for her heartfelt activism, including against war during the Vietnam era and more recently focusing on climate change and environmentalism.

Fonda said the effects of her fifth chemotherapy treatment had "worn off"in time for her to travel to a climate rally in Washington, D.C., NBC News reported.
